New orleans through a lens part 1

New Orleans is a city of culture, music and art. It’s also a place that doesn’t want you to forget its history. Carnival season has begun in New Orleans, and we couldn’t be more excited! While we love to experience the festivities. From dancing in the streets and grabbing a cold drink at a parade—we also enjoy getting out and exploring the city from a different point of view.

In this series, we’re exploring the streets of New Orleans with one lens, a 50mm f/1.7. We’re looking at how a single lens can affect the way you experience an environment, as well as how framing affects your perception of an image. We’ll also be exploring how light and color come together to create an image that tells a story about where it was captured. The result is an ode to the city, New Orleans, the most popular in Louisiana. Part one of this series was captured using a Sony digital mirrorless camera.

Stay tuned for part 2 and a exciting part 3, where we shot everything in 35mm film, including some rare re-rolled cinema film, again in 50mm. Enjoy!
