Lake Erie Freeze February 2022

Lake Erie is one the the shallowest freshwater lakes of its size. When the air falls below 39.2 degrees farenheit the lake starts to freeze. The more ice cover the less “lake effect snow” happens. This year we might not hit the great freeze like we seen in 2020 when over 95% of the lake was covered in ice by March 2.  

The photograph above was a composite of over 20 photos stitched together to get a real feel of the ice. If you removed the forefront this image doesn’t look like Ohio but a frozen tundra on the planet Hoth. How far can you see?
